Press Release – For Immediate Release
Melbourne, Australia
Issued on May 22, 2003
In recent weeks, Nicholas Pyers was mentioned on the Your Mac Life Internet Radio show and has had a link published on the YML website to his article about ‘Adding a “Favicon” to your website’.
What is Your Mac Life?
Your Mac Life is an Internet based, QuickTime broadcast “radio show” about and for Apple and Macintosh users. They do a live show every Wednesday evening from 5:30-8:00pm Pacific Time (23:30-1:00 GMT) and have approximately 1700 to 2000 listeners tuning in to the live show each week and about 160,000 accesses to the archives during the month.
Article Linked from Your Mac Life Web Site
On April 30, 2003, Shawn King, the host of Your Mac Life posted a link to the YML “Weekly Links” page that points to the ‘Adding a “Favicon” to your website’ article that Nicholas had published on his website earlier during the month.
Over the next couple of weeks, analysis of the nicholaspyers.com weblogs showed a sudden surge of visitors arriving at Nicholas’ site who had followed the link from the YML site and read the “favicon” article.
A couple of editors from different Macintosh User Groups came across this link and informed Nicholas that they will be re-printing this article in their forthcoming editions and at least one is also considering the publication of other articles by Nicholas.

Nicholas mentioned on Your Mac Life Broadcast
After realising that there was a link to the Favicon article on Your Mac Life, Nicholas contacted Shawn to thank him for the link and also to find out where Shawn had orginally discovered the article.
Shawn had read about the article on the Your Mac Life mailing list, when the link was posted in response to a subscriber question on how to create an icon in the URL bar of most popular web browsers.
You can get more details and subscribe to the list by going to the Your Mac Life Mailing List page.
When asked why he had selected the link for publication as a “Weekly Link”, Shawn responded, “It was of interest to the Mac Community.”
During the May 21st broadcast of Your Mac Life, Shawn mentions Nicholas during the section of the broadcast where he thanks those who had emailed him during the week.
The mention of Nicholas occurs between the 1:36:00 and 1:37:00 portion of the broadcast.
Shawn initially stumbles on the pronounaction of Pyers, Nicholas’ surname, but does get it right on the second attempt.
A copy of the broadcast was available for download from the YML website as a 15+ meg OK sound quality MP3 or as a 18+ meg MPEG-4 (ACC) better sound quality file.
